I have set a goal to walk most days on my way to work at a track that is on the way. The picture I have included is a handy little sign they have put up for informative purposes.

I was able to get 8 laps in this morning due to the fact that I had to go into work late because we are under a strict no overtime policy right now.
I had purchased a pedometer back in October to track my daily steps and to keep me motivated to try to out do my step count each day. I have been logging almost two or more miles each day. I have yet to reach my ultimate goal of 9000+ steps in a day. While the pedometer has been a very useful tool, it only counts my steps and I wish to know more information about the calories I burn each day. I recently purchased a fitbit one and I am awaiting it to arrive in the mail over the next few days. I hope that with this and my pedometer I will be better able to track my overall caloric burning activity and see just how much I do move during the day and try to analyze where I need to add more activity to reach my weight loss goals.

Congratulations on your progress. That's quite good, to be honest. YayYou!
I found that with a pedometer that I'm willing to walk many extra minutes if it means that I can add another couple of tenth of a mile. I walk a route inside my house and have for years. We have only 1700 sq.ft. but a couple of pass through doors on two rooms makes it less of a hassle. I also walk at the fitness center two times a week.
Thank you for the encouragement. I also find myself trying to add in extra steps around the house. I make several mini trips while putting up laundry just so I can add to my count for the day. I know it may make it take longer, but its a great little challenge just to see how far I walked.
